The context of the mission is the ANR ETHICS40 project, which aims to manage ethical risks for the industry of the future. Its partners are the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (with the LAMIH laboratory), the Université Savoie Mont Blanc (LISTIC and SYMME laboratories), the Université Grenoble Alpes (CERAG laboratory) and NTN Europe in Annecy (industrial partner).
The industry now incorporates many new technologies related mainly to the Internet of Things, the use of large amounts of data, and the autonomy of systems due to the development of AI. The effect can be beneficial, for example by assisting with tedious or repetitive tasks. However, they also carry risks, for example when the autonomy of systems is accompanied by a loss of human control over the actions performed.
A set of use cases has been collected as part of the ETHICS40 project. These cases present practical situations in which ethical risks have been identified in relation to the development of these new technologies in an industrial environment.
Participation in the following activities will be required during the mission:
The methods and technics that will be used (for ex.: LLM+RAG and/or ontologies and/or case-based reasoning) are to be selected in collaboration with the supervising team.
LAMIH (Valenciennes) is a multidisciplinary laboratory and recognized research player in the fields of transportation and mobility: non-polluting vehicles, intelligent transportation, driver assistance, eco-driving, structural weight reduction, transportation logistics, mobility for all, and smart mobility. It has strong expertise in everything related to human interaction with technical systems.
The laboratory is organized into four departments:
knowledge extraction, modeling and management; programming
The expected profile is a candidate with a PhD Industrial Engineering with an interest in Computer Science (AI, programming) or PhD in Computer Science with an interest in industrial topics.
