This research project falls within the field of educational entrepreneurship. It draws on work on legitimacy as a resource (Bitektine, 2011; Bitektine and Haack, 2015; Fisher, 2020; Fisher et al., 2016, 2017) to support the development of entrepreneurial projects and as a means of overcoming the weaknesses of unconventional entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs face three main challenges when developing their legitimacy: (1) the diversity of actors and expectations that assess their legitimacy (2) optimal differentiation from competitors (neither too different nor not different enough), (3) maintaining a sufficient level of legitimacy over time (Fisher, 2020). More specifically, the theoretical framework is that of Schoon's (2022) dyadic perspective. This offers an integrative vision that allows legitimacy to be understood as cross-level and cross-dimensional.
The objective of this research is to contribute to the development of entrepreneurial support tools, to implement them, and to test their impact. The methodological design can therefore be derived from design science (Dimov et al., 2023), with an experimental approach (Bitektine et al., 2017; Angrist and Pischke, 2009).
While the context of this research is primarily qualitative, a quantitative perspective should not be ruled out.
The objective of this research is to design and implement an educational program
In addition, three dimensions are suggested for this research project:
The above dimensions could evolve during the research project.
