Description du poste

Founded by its eponymous creator in 1976, Jean Paul Gaultier is a Parisian paradox—blending French style codes with iconoclastic rebellion, couture quality with urban sensibility, shock with chic.

Renowned for its daring tailoring and anti-conformist stance, the designer has forged a reputation as the “Enfant Terrible” of French fashion, a provocative and playful voice with timeless charm that continues to inspire a wide and diverse audience.

As Head Designer for Ready-to-Wear, you will lead the creative process from initial concept to final product, ensuring the artistic vision of the House is translated into innovative and high-quality collections. You will oversee all stages of design, manage a team of creatives, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver collections that reflect the brand’s identity and meet strategic goals in line with the calendar.

Responsabilities
  • Lead the design process from concept to final product, including sketching, 3D, development, technical drawings, prototype creation and participate in the industrialization process.
  • Design and develop collections across all categories (pre‑collection, runway, capsule, etc.), ensuring alignment with the Artistic Director’s vision and the brand’s image.
  • Ensure consistency with the seasonal collection plan and overall brand identity.
  • Select and manage fabrics and trims in close collaboration with the development team.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation: preliminary sketches, technical drawings, construction details, mock‑ups, animations, trend boards, silhouette illustrations, and presentation materials.
  • Oversee fittings and ensure artistic coherence of prototypes; implement necessary modifications and finalize products with development teams and industrialization teams when needed.
  • Monitor fashion trends and emerging graphic techniques to drive originality and desirability.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, atelier, freelance creatives, industrialization, communication, development, and artistic teams.
  • Ensure adherence to the creative calendar and budget constraints.
  • Manage and mentor a team of designers, fostering creativity, efficiency, and respect for processes.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in a senior design leadership role within a luxury fashion house, with a proven track record of leading design teams to deliver complete ready‑to‑wear collections.
  • Previous experience in both women’s and men’s collections.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with an in‑house atelier.
  • A visionary yet pragmatic creative leader with an innovative mindset and the agility to adapt to change.
  • Exceptional hand‑sketching, 3D, and technical design skills.
  • Strong understanding of the luxury market, its dynamics, and customer expectations.
  • Deep appreciation for luxury aesthetics, proportions, volumes, and craftsmanship.
  • Advanced 3D visualization expertise with a solid grasp of couture craftsmanship, materials, and silhouette development.
  • Keen aesthetic sensibility and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
