Run what runs the world.

Denna position rapporterar till:
Chief Counsel - Process Automation

In this role, you will develop, enhance, and implement a global trade compliance programme that is fit for purpose for the Process Automation (PA) Business Area and its Divisions, in alignment with ABB Group core requirements. You will drive the development of trade-related capabilities across all of PA and manage complex cases that are escalated to the Business Area.

The work model for this role is hybrid.

This position offers opportunities to collaborate with global business and operations teams while developing and maintaining a best-in-class Trade Compliance programme.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Designing and maintaining a global trade compliance programme and framework in PA, covering all areas of global trade compliance, including sanctions, entity listings and embargoes, export control, and customs.

  • Driving the review and development of trade-related capabilities, competencies, processes, and tools across the Business Area, ensuring that the transactions of the PA Divisions are conducted in line with formal regulatory requirements and ABB Trade policies and guidelines, while supporting PA’s operational performance and growth.

  • Developing and driving global trade risk assessment, monitoring, testing, and training across PA.

  • Developing and maintaining trade tool–specific guidance and executing related trainings, including SAP GTS.

  • Acting as the go-to person for high-risk and/or complex trade compliance matters across PA (including mergers and acquisitions), both in support of the Divisions and for cases escalated to the Business Area, ensuring that trade risks are identified, understood, and managed.

  • Serving as a trusted advisor to PA senior leadership on trade-related topics, synthesizing complex trade matters and supporting sound decision-making.

  • In collaboration with the PA global logistics team, monitoring and enhancing PA’s INCOTERMS strategy/policy and related training and guidance, with a focus on trade compliance aspects.

  • Staying abreast of changes in trade regulations, identifying related risks and opportunities, and ensuring that PA’s operations align with the latest requirements and are prepared for regulatory changes.

  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives in global trade processes to enhance overall operational performance.

Qualifications for the role (mandatory):

To be successful in this role, you bring a master’s degree from a reputable university or school, preferably with a formal education in legal and/or compliance disciplines, or at least a strong affinity with the legal domain and proven experience in handling regulatory requirements and enforcement matters.

You have a minimum of 15 years of professional experience, including at least 8 years of focused experience in Trade Compliance. You possess a solid understanding of customs, export controls, and sanctions, along with hands‑on experience in working with US trade regulations.

You are skilled in managing programmes and executing projects from design to completion, leveraging data and metrics to drive improvements. Experience with SAP ERP and GTS systems is considered an advantage. You have a proven track record of operating successfully in complex business environments, combining a hands‑on approach with the ability to drive innovation, share best practices, and adapt to evolving business needs.

Strong communication and influencing skills are essential, including the ability to present complex matters clearly and concisely, inspire trust, and promote effective cross‑functional collaboration. Fluency in English is required.
