About SEK International School Les Alpes
SEK Les Alpes, part of the SEK International Schools network, seeks a dynamic and knowledgeable teacher specialized in Geography, Cartography and History. The ideal candidate will bring deep content expertise, innovative pedagogy, and a passion for helping students connect spatial, historical, and cultural perspectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Teach Geography, Cartography, and History within the MYP (Middle Years Programme) curriculum, integrating spatial thinking, maps, GIS, and historical inquiry into lessons.
- Also teach Spanish language, fostering linguistic competence and cultural awareness.
- Design and deliver interdisciplinary projects that combine geography, history, and language, especially in relation to the Alpine environment and regional studies.
- Act as a residential educator one weekend per month, supporting holistic student development in the boarding program.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure alignment with the IB philosophy, SEK’s educational approach, and transdisciplinary learning.
- Promote student curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world connections by using fieldwork, mapping tools, historical sources, and technology.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Geography, History, Cartography, GIS, or a closely related field.
- Educational credential or Master’s degree in Education or Teaching
Professional Experience
- Prior teaching experience at MYP or secondary level
- Experience with project-based learning, interdisciplinary units, and integrating geographic / cultural studies
- Familiarity with GIS, mapping software, spatial analysis, or digital cartography is a strong plus
Languages
- Proficiency in English (C1 level).
IT Skills
- Familiarity with educational platforms.
- Competence in video and photo editing tools.
