A prestigious research foundation is seeking a Feodor Lynen Research Fellow based in Lille, France. This fellowship offers funding for up to two years abroad, specifically designed for researchers associated with German institutions. Candidates should have completed their PhD within the last four years in fields such as physics, chemistry, or biophysics. The role involves conducting advanced research projects in bionanointerfaces and 2D materials using cutting-edge microscopy techniques.
If you’re working in Germany and are looking for a postdoc abroad, this fellowship is designed for you.
We are looking to host a Feodor Lynen Research Fellow (Alexander von Humboldt Foundation) in Lille, France – a vibrant city at the heart of Europe, just one and a half hour from London, one hour from Paris and 30 minutes from Brussels by train.
The fellowship funds up to two years abroad, and is exclusively open to researchers based at German institutions (all nationalities). You may apply if you completed your PhD in the last four years in Germany, or are about to finish (the degree must be awarded before the fellowship begins). Applications to the Humboldt Foundation are accepted year‑round. With this focused eligibility, chances of success are higher compared to broader international schemes.
Our group works at the crossroads of physics, chemistry and biology, with projects involving single‑molecule fluorescence microscopy for the investigation of bionanointerfaces (DNA nanotechnology, supported lipid bilayers) and 2D materials.
We welcome candidates with backgrounds in physics, optics, chemistry, nanotechnology, material science, or biophysics, and there is flexibility to shape a project within these areas.
