Role title
Fleet & Network Airport Controller
Your role
As a Fleet & Network Airport Controller in the Operations Control Department, you will report to the Customer Journey & Fleet Control Manager. The FCNAC team manages EI and EUK operational fleet management and outstation airport handling of scheduled turnarounds in real‑time to protect the customer experience. The department schedules and pre‑plans at minus 24 hrs the daily order of departure, balancing commercial priorities, maintenance, aircraft technical status, airport restrictions, and customer experience impact.
Your responsibilities
- Manage and monitor the status and location of the EI and EUK fleet and intervene on the daily order of departure to deliver on‑time performance and protect the customer experience.
- Act as the central link and coordination point between the OCC, Maintenance Control, Dublin HUB, EUK operations teams, and outstation airports to ensure operational capability for schedule completion and protection of planned maintenance.
- Design the optimum daily aircraft order of departure taking account of commercial priorities, maintenance requirements, aircraft technical status, airport restrictions, and customer experience impact.
- Serve as the central contact for real‑time handling‑agent related queries and ground‑handling assistance for down‑route flight crews.
- Monitor potential delay hazards by looking ahead at operations and coordinating mitigation actions, including communicating with arrival airports to anticipate requirements for speedy turnarounds.
- Act as the operational link on the day between Aer Lingus operations and the operations control of franchise, partner, and ACMI operators while monitoring on‑day progress of each for schedule deviation.
- Manage and protect the company commercial airport slot portfolio in live operation.
- Monitor aircraft movements to ensure airports are aware of short‑notice schedule changes, extra flights, or cancellations to avoid costly fines.
- Monitor airport operational limitations and restrictions on behalf of the OCC, ensure OCC adherence to these regulatory limitations, or request exemptions to enable schedule completion.
- Maintain the AIMS system and other IT applications with up‑to‑date operational data to ensure crews, ground operations, base stations, customers, and third‑party suppliers have real‑time accurate information.
- Monitor network airports on the day of operation to ensure service standards are delivered consistently. Catalogue issues in a Log Tracker, identify trends, and provide feedback to ROMS.
Your qualifications and key criteria
- Proven ability to manage complex and unpredictable situations within a pressurised environment.
- Strong knowledge of the regulatory environment governing airport operations.
- Calm, organised, pro‑active approach with strong planning and multi‑tasking skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, energetic, and driven to meet deadlines.
- Excellent administration, planning, and prioritising skills.
- Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and knowledge of Aer Lingus operations systems; knowledge of AIMS is an advantage.
- Excellent people, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to present facts clearly and objectively.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and quick, evaluated decision making to minimise disruption.
- Initiative, teamwork, consensus building, prioritisation, and a strict attendance record.
- High level of commitment, flexibility, positive attitude to change, and resilience in high‑pressure situations.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
- Pass a strict airport security vetting procedure (5‑year background check) or hold a current airside pass for Dublin.
