A state correctional department is seeking a Deputy Warden at various facilities in France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. This role involves managing operations, overseeing budgets, and ensuring security and humane treatment of prisoners. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree and at least two years of relevant experience. The position requires strong management skills and the ability to handle crises effectively while fostering interdepartmental communication.

There are three (3) positions available at Thumb Correctional Facility (TCF), Alger Correctional Facility (LMF), or Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility (IBC). Please indicate each location you are interested in being considered for.
Serves as the Deputy Warden of operations at Thumb Correctional Facility (TCF), Alger Correctional Facility (LMF) or Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility (IBC). Acts as the Warden’s surrogate in their absence. Develops and oversees budgets, revises and enforces procedures for security, emergency/disaster response preparedness, ensures required inspections, responds to prisoner grievances, manages security and program classification placement of prisoners, upholds humane treatment standards, maintains effective labor/management relationships, ensures fair performance measures, works closely with Health Services and Mental Health services to ensure the physical and mental well‑being of prisoners, maintains relationships with other departments and agencies, and serves as an on‑call administrator as assigned.
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Two years of professional experience in the Department of Corrections, including two years equivalent to the P11 level or one year equivalent to the 12 level; or four years as an Assistant Resident Unit Supervisor 11; or two years as a Corrections Shift Supervisor 13 or Corrections Security Inspector 13.
Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of experience equivalent to a Corrections Shift Supervisor 13 or Corrections Security Inspector 13 may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
In accordance with Public Act 140 of the Public Acts of 1996, the Department of Corrections will not hire individuals who have been convicted of a felony or who have felony charges pending.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non‑Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in‑person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non‑custody new employee training.
