Remuneration
The salary scale for the post is: (as at 01/08/2025)
New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale. Incremental credit will be applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland and abroad (Department of Health Circular 2/2011). Incremental credit is normally granted on appointment, in respect of previous experience in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service and other Public Service Bodies and Statutory Agencies.
As per HR Circular 012/25 Please note that previous experience working in the public service counts only where the individual was employed directly by the relevant Civil Service/Public Body. It does not apply for temporary assignments with those bodies while engaged as an agency worker and employed by a private sector employment agency. Exemptions can be found at the following link.
Candidates will normally be given at least two weeks' notice of interview. The timescale may be reduced in exceptional circumstances.

Location of Post
There is currently one whole time permanent vacancy for Social Care Leader in Children’s Disability Network Team North Mayo. The base for this post is The Newman Institute, Ballina, Co Mayo.
A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Social Care Leader (CDNT) HSE West and North West Community Services (Galway, Mayo & Roscommon) from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration for the post of Social Care Leader, CDNT , HSE West and North West Community Services (Galway, Mayo & Roscommon) may be filled.
Children’s Disability Network Team provides therapeutic services to children and young people aged 0-18 years with a range of complex needs arising from a disability and whom are living within the CDNT1 network area. There is a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary working and family centred practice as per the principles of Progressing Disabilities for Children and Young People.
Reporting Relationship
The post holder reports to the local Children’s Disability Network Manager.
Purpose of the Post
Social Care Leaders typically work as part of a wider interdisciplinary team in providing a high quality service to users. The Social Care Leader will provide intervention and support to children and their families, individually or in groups, in conjunction with the wider interdisciplinary team and other relevant agencies. The primary aim is to provide intervention necessary to address any issues preventing service users from living their best life. They will help families to understand and support their child’s disability and maximise their participation in daily life. The Social Care Leader will help to develop the Social Care service within the team and will help to develop service initiatives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver a quality service in accordance with national and local requirements. Work with legislation, policies, procedures and protocols as laid down by the employer. Support line management in ensuring staff adhere to same. Work with the principles and values of recovery as described in the Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People. Manage and participate in the design, implementation and evaluation of intervention programmes; assist in risk assessments and development of service plans. Promote welfare and rights of service users and maintain liaison with family and community services. Attend and participate in Case Reviews, IFSP and Multidisciplinary Team meetings and provide regular written/verbal reports. Lead, motivate and supervise staff and ensure escalation of incidents of poor practice to the Manager. Support external monitoring and HIQA/other standards compliance. Contribute to education and professional development within the team and maintain documentation and records to local guidelines.
