An international learning company is seeking a Privacy & Data Protection Lead to oversee privacy policies implementation. This role involves advising management, educating colleagues on data privacy, and leading a privacy team. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of experience, preferably in the educational sector, and possesses strong communication skills. Overview

About the role: As a member of Sanoma’s Security & Privacy team, your main focus will be to drive the implementation of privacy policies and supporting systems at Sanoma Learning, in close collaboration with both business and technology teams, information security experts as well as Sanoma Group’s overarching Data Privacy office (DPO).

Responsibilities
  • Advise senior management on privacy requirements and their legal implications around compliance
  • Provide training and educate colleagues on the relevant aspects of privacy
  • Ensure overall awareness in the organisation on regulatory developments
  • Support creation and negotiation on data privacy agreements (DPAs)
  • Provide guidance in the event of potential data breaches
  • Lead and enable the Sanoma Learning operational privacy team (currently consisting of 3 FTEs)
  • Support the team members’ professional development
  • Maintain a productive relation with management and Group DPO
  • Participate in collaboration between private and public parties in the educational sector and build a network with relevant stakeholders for this area
  • As a subject-matter expert, you will also:
    • Be responsible for leading and enabling the Sanoma Learning operational privacy team (3 FTEs)
    • Lead the team’s professional development and maintain relations with management and Group DPO
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Law
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience (people management is a plus)
  • Knowledge of relevant laws (GDPR, e-Privacy Directive, EU AI Act) and ability to translate into practical guidance
  • Experience in carrying out privacy assessments (strong plus if exposure to AI domain)
  • Experience interacting with data protection authorities and privacy in the educational sector is a plus
  • Relevant certificates like CIPP-E, CIPT, CIPM or equivalent
  • Strong professional communication in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Proactive and positive attitude with initiative and resilience
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
  • Passionate about balancing digital technologies (AI, user data, analytics) with safeguarding data subject rights
  • Ability to work in an international context and adapt approach across cultures
