Descripción del empleo

Description of Group/Project:

Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices Group focuses on the development of technological applications based on graphene and other 2D materials (MoS2). The activities cut across different scientific aspects, from the fundamentals (the physics of devices and semiconductors) to materials (growth of graphene and 2D materials by CVD and MOCVD, surface functionalisation, advanced characterisation), through to devices (fabrication technology, nanofabrication) and applications, with a strong emphasis on bioelectronics for neural interfacing.

Main Tasks and responsibilities:

The research activity of the candidate will be part of the TRIBOMED project. This project is developing self-powered medical implants by the combination of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) and graphene-based electrodes to stimulate the peripheral nervous system. The candidate will be involved in activities related to the design, fabrication, and assessment of an automatized system for TENGs characterization (tribometer). The development of the tribometer include the following tasks: i) Design automated load selection synchronized with mechanical stimulus. ii) Design current and voltage sensing for power generation characterization. iii) Model time response of power generation under different mechanicalstimulus. The candidate will be working in a very multidisciplinary project that covers topics such as materials science for energy harvesting and thin film technologies for neural interfaces development.

The research activity of the candidate will be framed within the project ERC-CoG TRIBOMED (G.A. 101125401 and the grant CEX2021-001214-S funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033, from the call of the year 2021, for the granting of accreditations and public support for the ‘Severo Ochoa Centers of Excellence’ and ‘María de Maeztu Units of Excellence’ associated with said accreditations.

Requirements:

  • Education:
Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and Professional Experience:
    Electronic systems/circuits development, programming.
  • Personal competences:
Teamwork skills, Fluent English (both spoken and written), hands-on.

Summary of conditions:

Full time work (37,5h/week)
Contract Length: Temporary (6 months)
Location: Bellaterra (Barcelona)
Salary will depend on qualifications and demonstrated experience.
Support to the relocation issues.
Life Insurance.
Estimated Incorporation date:as soon as possible
