ABOUT US

Domestic Data Streamers (DDS) is a team of 30+ creatives, technologists, and researchers who turn data into public experiences to spark conversations and debate. We work across 50 countries with museums, cultural institutions, companies, and international organizations like the UN. For us, data isn't just numbers, it's a living part of how people see, feel, and act. If you care about meaningful work at the intersection of technology, design and society, this might be your place.

THE ROLE : FULL-TIME

This role sits at the heart of how DDS brings digital projects to life. You'll be the connecting force between our digital team (designers, developers, researchers), clients, and our creative vision. You'll manage complex digital projects from concept through launch—platforms, data visualizations, interactive installations, creative websites that break the usual molds.

We're looking for someone who can speak both human and tech, who knows how to keep a team energized through long development cycles, and who understands that our work isn't just about delivering on time, it's about creating experiences that matter.

Core Responsibilities
Project Leadership
  • Maintain oversight of multiple active digital projects, serving as the go-to resource for your team
  • Work with team leads to ensure projects meet DDS standards for innovation and impact
  • Balance team capacity across initiatives without burning people out
  • Act as main client contact, translating their needs into clear, actionable plans
Team Coordination
  • Facilitate daily communication between designers, developers, and other team members
  • Make sure everyone has what they need to do their best work
  • Help clear blockers and solve challenges during project execution
  • Lead weekly planning sessions and participate in Friday morning project updates
  • Create space for creativity and innovation (not just checking boxes)
Project Planning & Execution
  • Create realistic project schedules that account for iteration and complexity
  • Monitor progress and adjust plans when reality hits
  • Document decisions, changes, and learnings throughout the project
  • Manage resource allocation across different project phases
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Provide regular, clear updates on project status
  • Manage expectations (and occasionally reset them)
  • Translate technical concepts into language that makes sense
  • Spot potential issues before they become fires
  • Work with account managers on scope, budgets, and new opportunities
Cross-Team Collaboration
  • Share knowledge across different project types (physical installations, AI projects, etc.)
  • Coordinate resources for hybrid projects
  • Support digital components of physical installations
Must-Haves (Do Not Apply Without)
  • Minimum 3 years managing digital projects with significant front-end work (platforms, visualizations, dashboards, creative web experiences outside standard templates)
  • Experience with long, complex development processes involving multiple iterations
  • Technical understanding—you know what developers need, understand their challenges, and can estimate work volumes and timings realistically
  • Strong client-facing skills and the ability to manage expectations proactively
  • Experience building and managing cross-functional teams (designers, developers, researchers)
  • Proven ability to handle high-pressure situations and navigate uncertainty
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written); Spanish and / or Catalan a strong plus
  • Available to work from our Barcelona studio regularly.
You’ll Stand Out If You Have
  • Network of freelance developers and specialists you can bring in for projects
  • Experience in creative agencies, cultural institutions, or research-driven organizations
  • Background in or strong understanding of data visualization projects
  • Track record of turning small opportunities into long-term client relationships
  • Experience with accessibility testing and inclusive design practices
You’ll Be Accountable For
  • Project Delivery : Projects completed on time, within scope, meeting quality standards
  • Team Health : Team member satisfaction, growth, and sustainable workload
  • Client Relationships : Client satisfaction and relationship strength
  • Quality : Final deliverables that match DDS's standards for innovation
  • Collaboration : Smooth coordination across teams and clear communication
  • Documentation : Useful, organized project records and learnings
  • Business Development : Spotting opportunities to extend and deepen client relationships
DDS Culture Principles (Read This Part)

We put humans first. People come before budgets and deadlines. This means protecting your team from burnout, making sure they rest and enjoy their work, and anticipating problems before they become crises.

We expect you to learn constantly. Each project is something new, often something we haven't done before. That's the point.

You’ll need to be a Swiss Army knife. Our teams include creatives, designers, engineers, and researchers. You don't need to be an expert in everything, but you need enough understanding of each field to coordinate effectively.

We value resilience. At DDS, managers experience the most uncertainty and pressure, from start to finish of projects. You need to handle complex situations over time and turn them into learning and opportunities.

We practice delegation. On complex projects with many tasks, you need to assign roles clearly and not take on team responsibilities yourself. Keep your hands free to maintain the bigger picture.

We want engagers. Know how to motivate each team member, building the feeling that they want to do the project, not that they have to do it. Minimize friction to protect motivation from start to finish.

Working Practices
  • Core hours : 9 AM - 6 PM (flexible) and Fridays 8am to 3pm.
  • Summer schedule : July-August, 8 AM - 3 PM
