The Instituto de Energía Solar (IES) at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in the modelling of photovoltaic (PV) systems, as part of a Spanish R&D project focused on the integration of machine learning with solar energy technologies. The successful candidate will join the Photovoltaic Systems Research Group and contribute to the development and training of machine learning models for performance evaluation and fault detection in PV systems.

Requirements

• MSc degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or closely related technical fields
• Experience with machine learning methods (including classifiers, time series analysis, and neural networks)
• Familiarity with PV systems engineering is advantageous
• Experience with modelling and simulation software is considered a plus
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and organizational abilities
• Fully funded 3-year fellowship
• Opportunities for conference participation
• Involvement in EU-funded projects
• Possibility of research stays
