British School Alzira, Xativa and Gandia are a family of British schools in the Valencia region, Spain, offering a high‑quality British education to students of all nationalities. Our three schools are co‑educational and teach the British National Curriculum. Applications from both experienced teachers, recently qualified teachers and teaching couples are warmly invited.

To work in our schools you must have the right to work in Spain (most commonly you are already resident in Spain or have an EU passport, including Ireland). Applicants with a British passport are not automatically eligible to work in Spain.

Qualifications & Expectations

We ask that you have:

• Enthusiasm and high expectations for all pupils;
• An excellent knowledge of the curriculum and an ability to focus children on their learning by delivering engaging lessons;
• A B.Ed., P.G.C.E or equivalent;
• English as a first language. (There is no requirement for our teachers to speak Spanish.)

All teachers are offered a full‑time permanent contract from day one of working in our schools. We have our own internal pay structure with our salary set significantly above the national salary for teachers in Spain. In addition, we have an incremental system that enables teachers who remain with us to receive an increased salary each year.

We support teaching staff with all aspects of relocation, including pastoral care, social security registration and accommodation assistance.

Salary & Accommodation

Salary: 29,500€ per annum (approximately 25,070€ after tax for a 15% reduction).

Accommodation costs: In Valencia 650–700€; closer to Alzira or near the mountains/beach 550–600€.

Position Details

We are looking for a motivated, flexible and dynamic science teacher who can teach a balanced curriculum across years 7‑13 and who can meet the objectives of the IGCSE Science Double Award specification and A‑level Biology.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS);
• Experience of teaching Maths to high‑ability students to KS4;
• Successful record of planning and delivering engaging learning activities;
• Knowledge of the British Curriculum.

Preferred Requirements

• Two years experience of teaching within the British Curriculum.

The school offers return flights annually and provides a dedicated personnel support assistant to assist teachers with relocation and adaptation to life in Spain.
