Machine Learning Engineering Lead - Barcelona

Location: We are flexible! Come and join us either in Hamburg, Berlin, Athens or Barcelona.

The Marketplace department is the core of our platform and consists of Product Management, Data and Engineering. Together as a team we are going to build our Pricing product, which leads to higher customer engagement, better supply utilisation, and ultimately to a balanced demand and supply situation.

As the Machine Learning Engineering Lead in the Marketplace, you will work closely with the Product and Engineering Managers to improve the existing products such as surge or demand prediction, and evaluate future opportunities to improve our Marketplace performance. You’re responsible for a team of 4 to 6 Machine Learning Engineers, being hands-on in mentoring them to help and grow, and responsible for the data strategy of Marketplace along with the Data Science Lead, ensuring high quality of our data products.

YOUR DAILY ADVENTURES WILL INCLUDE:

• Being hands-on and mentoring the MLEs to grow and improve the architecture, reliability and monitoring of our systems while being their line manager, as well as being the hiring manager for the role.
• In close collaboration with the data science lead and engineering managers, set the right priorities for their teams, conceptualise and implement various components of the ML engineering infrastructure and processes to maximise the impact and value of data usage for all stakeholders in our increasingly complex market environment.
• Facilitating effective collaboration between product managers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, data engineers and cross-functional engineering teams.
• By using strategic thinking, business understanding and being informed on the latest developments in MLE, help the team to identify, understand, structure and solve complex problems and improve and productionize real-time data products.
• Being the advocate for MLEs in the business and improving the speed and quality of delivery.

• A history of leading and supporting successful data projects and the ability to define project objectives, resources, timelines and methodologies clearly to all stakeholders.
