The Opportunity

This role offers more than just number-crunching. You will work directly with the CEO, overseeing daily financial operations, strategy, and compliance. Expect variety, autonomy, and a significant impact in a business where your work truly matters.

You will be central to our Spanish financial operations — managing books, ensuring compliance, and staying ahead of tax obligations and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Core Finance Management: Full ownership of the P&L; cash flow forecasting; monthly management accounts; support budget creation, scenario planning, and commercial insights for decision-making; ensure compliance with the Spanish General Accounting Plan (PGC / PGC-PYMEs) and the Commercial Code.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage supplier payments, client invoicing, credit control; maintain transaction records, monitor reconciliation, and prepare for audits; ensure filing and compliance with Spanish taxes (CIT), VAT, and IRPF.
  • Compliance & Local Reporting: Prepare and file annual accounts with the Mercantile Registry per Spanish GAAP; maintain accounting books (Libro Diario, Inventarios, Cuentas Anuales, Libro de Actas); manage filings for informative returns (Modelo 390, 349, 347, 720); liaise with Agencia Tributaria (AEAT).
  • Tools, Systems & Processes: Run and optimize accounting software (familiarity with Spanish platforms preferred; experience with Xero / Zoho is a plus); ensure GDPR compliance; develop scalable workflows to support business growth.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in Financial Management, International Accounting, or Business Economics is a plus.
  • Membership in a professional body like ICJCE is advantageous.
  • Fluency in Spanish GAAP, VAT, CIT, IRPF, and SME regulations in Spain.
  • Experience managing legal obligations for annual accounts and engaging with tax authorities.
  • Familiarity with Mercantile Registry filings and deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling expertise.

  • Excellent communication skills in both Spanish and English, written and verbal.
