As a Lead Backend Engineer, your role involves providing guidance and support to development teams throughout the planning, design, development, and delivery phases of enterprise-level software solutions. Your technical proficiency and understanding of the industry will help ensure the software solutions are appropriate, scalable, flexible, and resilient.
You will spearhead a team of developers working on an award-winning platform across multiple jurisdictions. You will oversee the full project lifecycle, coaching and inspiring the team to reach their goals. The role emphasizes fast time to market, operational scalability, and automation to accelerate the platform’s growth and market entries.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining a productive working environment for development teams.
- Leverage understanding of the igaming industry, provider / operator environment, operator pain points, and translate them into architectural solutions.
- Collaborate with Solutions Architects and other Technical Leads; mediate technical debates, participate in building solutions for performance optimisations, and lead discussions on decisions affecting future architectural choices.
- Design, develop and document the technical architecture of products, considering scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Evaluate and recommend technology stacks, frameworks, and third-party tools to support development and deployment.
- Drive the adoption of best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns to deliver high-quality, maintainable, scalable software.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in igaming and software architecture.
Requirements
- Extensive experience developing B2B software in the igaming space.
- At least 15 years of software development experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, focusing on C# and .NET, including the latest .NET technologies (.NET Core, .NET6, WebAPI).
- Strong knowledge of event-driven and microservice architectures.
- Expertise in designing and deploying applications on Kubernetes.
- Strong experience with SQL, including profiling and database design.
- Experience with caching using Redis.
- Experience with client / server or N-tier architectures.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of operator and platform requirements, including regulatory and operational aspects.
- Proficiency in leveraging open-source technologies to reduce costs and enhance capabilities.
- Experience with automation tools and practices, including CI / CD pipelines; solid understanding of observability principles and tools.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as NUnit or XUnit.
