Formación

Descripción del empleo

Location : Madrid, with frequent travel to the plant site in southern Spain required

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the COMPANY’s Board of Directors, the CFO will play a key role in driving profitability, ensuring financial compliance, and supporting sustainable growth by providing strategic financial leadership and insights. The incumbent is expected to provide overall financial leadership and guidance for the COMPANY and ensure that all financial commitments are achieved. This includes developing financial strategy, risk minimization plans, and opportunity forecasting. The role also provides high-level financial reporting and analysis, regular budget consolidation, and plays a critical role in managing joint venture (JV) financial structures, partner alignment, and governance frameworks. The CFO will act as a key liaison between the COMPANY and JV partners, ensuring financial transparency, accountability, and shared value creation.

Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and implement the financial strategy aligned with the COMPANY’s vision and goals.
• Provide leadership on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure efficient allocation of resources. Drive financial performance through analysis, reporting, and strategic planning.
• Ensure the integrity of the COMPANY’s accounting records and financial systems.

Financial Operations Management

• Oversee accounting, tax, treasury, and financial reporting functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with Spanish and EU financial regulations and industry-specific requirements.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, currency hedging, and funding strategies to support operations and investments.
• Actively provide relevant and timely financial information to enable a balanced and objective assessment of the COMPANY’s strategy and objectives.
• Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and business plans, and monitor performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances to the Board and stakeholders.
• Oversee JV financial governance, ensuring alignment with both internal requirements and those of the JV partners.

Business Partnering

• Collaborate with the CEO and Executive Team to guide decision-making with financial insights.
• Support Operations and Commercial teams in evaluating new projects, contracts, business opportunities, and JV initiatives.
• Lead financial risk management, including market, credit, and operational risks.

Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the key point of contact for investors, JV partners, financial institutions, auditors, and regulators.
• Prepare and present financial reports to the Board, investors, and key stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions for optimal financing structures.
• Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers, brokers, bankers, JV partners, and other parties.
• Keep key stakeholders up to date on progress against key milestones.

Mergers, Acquisitions, Joint Ventures, and Capital Investments

• Evaluate and execute M&A opportunities, joint ventures, partnerships, and strategic investments.
• Conduct due diligence, financial modelling, and structuring for new ventures and JV projects.
• Optimize capital investment strategies to maximize returns and shareholder value.
• Ensure financial alignment between JV partners, including capital calls, dividend policies, and financial reporting protocols.

Sustainability & Innovation

• Support initiatives to enhance sustainability in line with industry and regulatory expectations.
• Leverage technology and digital tools to improve financial processes and reporting.
• Keep the CEO informed of industry developments relevant to the operation of an efficient finance function, particularly those impacting joint ventures and co-investment models.
• Identify, attract, and retain top finance talent, fostering a culture of collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement.
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to empower the team.
• Communicate strategic goals clearly, ensuring the team understands their contribution to business and JV objectives while maintaining focus, motivation, and accountability.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred.
• Minimum 10–15 years’ relevant experience in financial leadership roles, ideally in renewable energy, biofuels, oil & gas, chemical, or manufacturing sectors.
• Proven track record in financial strategy, risk management, and operational excellence, with hands-on experience managing joint ventures (a must-have). Exposure to Asian operations and JV partner cultures is highly preferred.
• Experience operating in the Spanish market with a strong understanding of local regulations and business practices.
• Strong business and financial acumen with exceptional leadership and communication skills.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including JV boards and co-investors.
• Resilient, performance-driven, hands-on, with a pragmatic and proactive approach.
• Fluent in Spanish (a must-have) and English.
