A fast-growing tech company in Barcelona is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead its global finance function. The ideal candidate must possess over 10 years of progressive finance experience in senior leadership roles, ideally in international organizations. Fluent English and Spanish are required. Responsibilities include strategic partnership with the CEO, management of financial operations, and oversight of cash flow and risk management. One of my clients, a fast-growing tech company, is looking for a CFO to lead their global finance function and act as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team.

Role & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership
  • Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team, contributing to corporate strategy, capital allocation, and long-term planning.
  • Quickly develop a deep understanding of the business model, identifying value drivers, margin opportunities, and scalability constraints.
  • Provide clear financial narratives and decision frameworks for new initiatives, international expansion, platform investments, and potential M&A or divestment opportunities.
Financial Management & Reporting
  • Lead the global finance function, including accounting, tax, FP&A, treasury, and financial operations.
  • Oversee statutory accounting and tax compliance while ensuring strong governance across international entities.
  • Manage group consolidation and reporting in the ERP system, ensuring timely, accurate, and decision-ready financial information.
  • Own consolidated month-end, quarterly, and annual reporting, including profitability and performance analysis.
  • Ensure alignment between statutory accounts, management reporting, and Board-level reporting.
Forecasting, Planning & Performance Management
  • Lead company-wide financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, including multi-scenario and sensitivity analysis.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support business performance analysis and strategic decision-making.
  • Track performance against plan, proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
Cash Flow, Treasury & Risk Management
  • Manage cash flow planning and liquidity across multiple currencies and jurisdictions.
  • Optimize working capital, payment flows, reserves, and exposure to operational risks.
  • Lead treasury activities including FX management, banking relationships, and credit facilities.
  • Establish robust financial controls, risk frameworks, and scalable internal processes.
Tax, Legal & Compliance
  • Partner with international tax advisors, legal counsel, and auditors to ensure compliance across jurisdictions.
  • Oversee tax planning, including indirect taxes and group structure optimization.
  • Act as the primary finance contact for audits, regulatory matters, and cross‑border compliance topics.
Team Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Lead and develop a high‑performing international finance team.
  • Design scalable processes, systems, and controls that support operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, clarity, and strategic partnership within the finance function.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership roles in international organizations (CFO, Finance Director, Head of Finance).
  • Strong experience partnering with founders, CEOs, and Boards.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (near‑native English required).
  • Proven leadership of multi‑layered, multi‑country teams.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or similar; professional qualification desirable.
  • Deep knowledge of local GAAP and strong understanding of international accounting standards.
  • Extensive experience with ERP systems and complex consolidations.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills (scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, unit economics).
  • Strong cash flow, treasury, and working capital management expertise.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify and convey complex topics.
  • Hands‑on, pragmatic leader comfortable in fast‑moving, high‑growth environments.
Desired / Nice‑to‑Have Experience
  • IFRS exposure.
  • Experience in subscription‑based or recurring‑revenue business models.
  • Familiarity with digital marketplaces or multi‑channel revenue environments.
  • International tax structuring experience.
  • Prior audit or transaction experience.
  • Treasury experience including FX exposure management.
  • Experience with modern BI and analytics tools.
