Job Description: AI Director

As AI Director, you will be at the forefront of this transformation. Reporting to the CIO, you’ll shape the data strategy and help deliver next-generation AI solutions with real impact across the business. This is a high-profile leadership role with the mandate and momentum to drive change, supported by the board and funding.

AI Strategy & Vision

• Develop, articulate, and own the comprehensive AI strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and market opportunities.
• Identify and prioritize high-impact AI use cases across product development, service delivery, and internal operations.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in AI/ML research, technologies, and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact and application within the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the restructuring and governance of enterprise data to enable AI-driven insights.
• Identify and deliver high-value AI/ML use cases, particularly in drug development and commercial strategy.
• Build internal AI capabilities while overseeing and challenging external vendors.
• Translate complex technical insights into compelling business narratives for senior stakeholders.
• Act as a thought leader across the business, helping shape the broader data and digital strategy.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in AI/ML, with significant hands-on development and deployment of machine learning models.
• Proven track record (minimum 3-5 years) of leading, managing, and mentoring AI/ML teams or projects.
• Deep technical expertise in core AI/ML concepts, including supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning (CNNs, RNNs, Transformers), NLP, computer vision (as applicable), reinforcement learning, etc.
• A strategic technologist with experience in AI/ML and exposure to LLMs (not required).
• Able to balance hands-on delivery with influencing at the highest organizational levels.
• Strong communication skills, comfortable leading in fast-paced, change-heavy environments.
