As an architect or civil engineer, you will work in a team with two other colleagues appointed to related fields to strengthen a specialist focus on sustainable construction, which will be reflected in the further development of teaching in our relevant degree programmes and in research and transfer activities. As part of your qualifying professorship, which will confer the title of ‘professor’, you will have the opportunity to obtain the required qualifications for a professorship in accordance with § 49 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG)

  • entitled to pursue either the doctorate track (A) or the practice track (B)
  • with the option of subsequently taking up a permanent professorship (W2) at our university

In terms of content, the assistant professorship aims to enable you to conduct research and teach in the field of building construction and contribute to the development of innovative, resource-efficient and sustainable building designs. In this context, you will also deal with the special features of building renovation and explore the opportunities offered by the integration of BIM into the planning process. Your teaching load is 8 LVS (weekly teaching units).

After successfully completing your qualification and probationary period, you will be expected to take on independent responsibility for the above-mentioned subject areas at the current international and professional level as part of a regular full-time professorship.

Ihre Qualifikationen

  • You have proven expertise in the planning and execution of resource-efficient building designs and in-depth knowledge of the design and planning of new buildings, building maintenance measures, conversions and building renovation. This includes the sound application of presentation methods such as constructive sketching, technical drawing and building information modelling.
  • You have a university degree and pedagogical aptitude.
  • For the doctorate track (A): demonstrate special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least three years of professional practice, of which at least two years must be outside the university sector. Alternatively, show professional experience outside higher education by spending the majority of your activity over at least three years in cooperation between a higher education institution and non-university practice. A relevant doctoral programme that is likely to be completed within the qualification period should also be started.
  • For the practice track (B): you have already completed a relevant doctoral degree and have at least a prospect of an offer from an employer outside the higher education sector enabling you to complete the required specialised work for at least 24 months on a half-time basis.

Please note that you must decide which of the two tracks you wish to apply for.

  • further develop our regional and international cooperation in teaching, research and practice
  • have experience in the acquisition of research and practical development projects
  • are passionate about teaching, research, transfer, academic self-administration and inclusive departmental development
