About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Berlin. You'll work autonomously handling everything from financial statements and reporting to tax compliance and process optimization, while acting as our local accounting expert to help build best practices as we establish our German operations.

Your Responsibilities

• Financial Statements & Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (HGB-compliant), including analysis and commentary.
• Accounting: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and document business transactions.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Support planning, forecasting, and reporting with data-driven insights.
• Accounts Receivable & Payable: Oversee invoice verification, payment processing, and receivables management.
• Tax & Compliance: Handle VAT returns and collaborate with external tax advisors.
• Audits: Serve as the point of contact for internal and external auditors, ensuring timely submission of required documents.
• Process Optimization: Analyze existing workflows and implement smarter, digital, and automated solutions.

What You Bring

• A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in accounting, ideally in tech, travel, or SaaS.
• Strong knowledge of German commercial & tax law (HGB, UStG).
• Experience with accounting tools like DATEV, SAP, or similar.
• Advanced Excel skills and analytical thinking.
• Fluency in German and English (spoken and written).
• Independent, structured, and precise work ethic—combined with team spirit and an open mindset.
• Bonus: Professional certifications (e.g., Steuerberater:in, ACCA, CPA)
