JOB PURPOSE:

Manage resolution of high-value and business critical disputes and investigations in Germany and globally. Advise on contract drafting and templates to mitigate risks and prevent future disputes. Trusted legal advisor to management on key strategic and tactical decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Hands‑on management of commercial, legal and compliance disputes and other contentious matters in Germany and globally.
• Advise management on dispute resolution and negotiation strategies.
• Support and conduct commercial and legal negotiations to resolve or prevent disputes.
• Manage litigation/arbitration proceedings.
• Analyse and respond to claim/breach/non‑compliance letters.
• Advise on contract drafting and templates and best practices to ensure clarity, protect Rakuten’s rights and prevent future disputes.

Requirements:

• English fluency and ability to draft in English
• Contract drafting and negotiation
• Excellent communication skills/ability to explain complex issues succinctly
• Law degree and qualified to practice in the EEA/UK
• International experience
• Master degree in law from an English‑speaking university
• Minimum 3 years experience in a top‑tier law firm or in‑house.
