Responsibilities

The Head Accountant Leica Holdings is responsible for leading and overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities across three headquarter legal entities. These entities support the following core operations:

• Corporate central functions
• Patent and trademark licensing
• IT services

This position reports to the Finance Manager Business Units Europe and is part of the Finance Service Center Europe located in Wetzlar, Germany and will be an on-site role.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Lead month-end closing activities for corporate reporting including journal entries preparation and account reconciliation.
• Prepare yearly financial statements in local GAAP (HGB) and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with statutory and tax requirement.
• Ensure alignment of financial processes and transactions with internal control rules

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include

• Certified financial accountant with solid knowledge of local German accounting principles (HGB) or equivalent education (master’s degree in finance & accounting)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial accounting ideally with general ledger responsibility in an international corporate environment
• Fluent in German and ability to communicate in business English

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Usage of SAP as ERP system
• Familiarity with US GAAP accounting norms and SOX internal control process
