Overview

Executive Underwriter / Product Leader ESG

We are looking for a Senior Underwriter / Product Leader ESG, based in either New York, Zurich, Munich or London.

The Company

Allianz Commercial has an extensive range of risks covered when it comes to protecting businesses, including aircraft, international business, and offshore wind parks. The Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) line of business creates innovative tailored structured insurance, captive reinsurance, and other non-traditional risk management solutions for corporate and financial clients globally.

Your Team

The ART LoB leverages Allianz Group capabilities to deliver bespoke multi-year, multi-line solutions and strengthen client relationships in ESG risk transfer.

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Global Markets Leader ART, you will develop and implement the global ART LoB strategy for ESG solutions, act as the Subject Matter Expert for ART LoB ESG underwriting results and market management, develop cross-sell opportunities with AGCS, and create innovative ESG risk transfer solutions. You will be a thought leader in ESG risk transfer and lead underwriting initiatives in a fast-changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a global ART strategy for ESG underwriting and business development to achieve profitable growth.
• Identify market opportunities and implement strategic global market management tools.
• Develop and implement global guidelines to enhance underwriting efficiency and accuracy, while managing ESG underwriting results.
• Lead new ESG product development opportunities in ART and interface with Allianz group products.
• Represent ART positively within Allianz Commercial, Allianz Group, and externally; build long-term relationships with clients, brokers, and other functions.
• Maintain client and industry insights, deliver market and competitor insights, and implement KPIs and SLAs for global/local business improvement.
• Explore potential to drive parametric solutions.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• Strategic Underwriting & Planning: Define segmentation and client differentiation strategies; develop innovative solutions and communicate strategies in a fast-changing environment.
• Business Insight & Tools: Implement methodologies for market, competitor, and client insight; manage sales distribution channels effectively.
• Insurance & Transactional Expertise: In-depth knowledge of large and specialty risk insurance; negotiate, structure, and execute complex insurance and financial transactions.
• Entrepreneurial Impact: Demonstrate entrepreneurial behavior that positively influences strategy and results.
• Experience & Track Record: Minimum 5 to 7 years in specialty areas; proven lead underwriter with quantitative skills, possibly actuarial.
• Stakeholder & Market Management: Influence strategic stakeholders across locations and functions; apply knowledge of market operations, business, and customer needs.
• Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication; skilled negotiation at senior levels internally and externally.
• AI: Expertise in integrating AI into business functions to improve efficiency and foster data-driven innovation.

The annualized base pay range for this role is $215,292 - $335,088. The posted salary range is only applicable to applicants based in the United States. The base pay is one component of the total compensation package, which may include incentive awards.
