Zusammenfassung

A leading technology company in Munich is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead for their Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing team. In this role, you will manage and guide a team to ensure the testing of electronic control units follows industry standards. Candidates should have a background in Electrical Engineering and over 5 years of experience in automotive system testing, particularly in HIL environments. This position involves collaborating with multiple departments and requires strong leadership skills.

Your tasks
  • Lead and manage the EE HIL team by providing technical direction, resource planning, and overall project oversight
  • Define and implement HIL strategies for validating electronic control units (ECUs) and systems across multiple vehicle domains, including powertrain, chassis, body, and infotainment
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of HIL test benches using platforms such as dSPACE, NI, ETAS, or Vector VT
  • Ensure accurate simulation models of vehicle environments and components are properly integrated into HIL setups
  • Manage the development of automated test scripts and test cases to validate functional, safety-related, and diagnostic requirements
  • Collaborate closely with systems engineering, software, and hardware teams to align testing activities with product development timelines
  • Ensure all testing activities comply with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262), cybersecurity requirements (ISO 21434), and OEM-specific guidelines
  • Drive issue resolution and root cause analysis for defects identified during HIL testing
  • Track and report test progress, coverage, and quality metrics to project stakeholders and leadership
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and promote continuous improvement of HIL practices, tools, and processes
Your profile
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive EE system testing, including at least 3 years in a HIL-related role
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams or projects involving HIL systems
  • Deep understanding of HIL platforms (e.g., dSPACE, NI VeriStand, ETAS LABCAR, Vector VT) and model integration
  • Proficiency in in-vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet) and diagnostic protocols (UDS, OBD)
  • Strong knowledge of automotive system architectures and embedded control systems
  • Experience with test automation tools and scripting languages such as Python, CAPL, and MATLAB/Simulink
  • Solid understanding of ISO 26262 and experience working in safety-critical environments
  • Experience with EV and hybrid vehicle systems, including BMS, inverters, and DC/DC converters
  • Exposure to AUTOSAR architecture and configuration tools
  • Experience with project management tools and agile development methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface across departments and with OEM clients
