Job summary
A community support organization in Hamilton is seeking a Direct Support Facilitator to provide support and assistance to clients in group living settings. The ideal candidate will have relevant educational credentials and experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include ensuring safety and facilitating social and recreational activities. This role values respect, dignity, and inclusion in the workplace.
Qualifications
- Two years of recent experience is preferred.
- Fluency in a second language is an asset.
- Experience with diverse client groups is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and assistance in group living settings.
- Deliver social and learning activities within the community.
- Ensure safety, security, and wellness of clients.
Skills
Education
Direct Support Facilitators - Group Living provide support and assistance to clients within our group living settings, delivering social, recreational and learning based activities within the community.
Week 1: Saturday (7am -3pm)
Week 2: Sunday (7am -3pm)
- DSW, SSW, CYW, or Social Sciences degree or diploma in a related field. The above education with a DSW Certificate is preferred.
- Two (2) years of recent experience working with adults with a developmental disability, transitional aged youth, addictions and/or mental health preferred.
- Experience building an effective professional rapport with clients by focusing on respect, dignity, inclusion, and maintaining personal boundaries.
- Experience developing Person Directed Plans/Individual Support Plans with consideration for skill development, recreation, independent living skills, employment, health and wellness, and relationship building.
- Ensure the safety, security and wellness of clients, co-workers, and visitors.
- Displays conduct in the community that enhances the reputation of clients and Community Living Hamilton.
- Valid NVCI Certification.
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certification.
- A valid driver’s license.
An equivalent combination of Education, Experience and Ability acceptable to the Director and Manager may be considered.
- Fluency in a 2nd language
