UI / UX Design Manager - VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Hybrid)

About the Role

As a UI / UX Design Manager, you will truly help shape our digital experience. We’re looking for a talented people leader and designer who blends creativity with strategic thinking and efficiency, driven by a passion for delivering user-centered solutions. This role manages a team of 3.

Responsibilities

1. Support our Marketing team and take ownership of UI, UX and Graphic Design.
2. Lead a small team to tackle digital design initiatives, while managing multiple simultaneous requests and projects.
3. Lead a team creating, elevating and updating website designs and customer-facing digital assets.
4. Lead the design process from concept to handoff, ensuring that designs meet business objectives, customer needs, and brand guidelines.
5. Actively contribute to team development, helping to build a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement.
6. Mentor junior designers and provide guidance on design principles, best practices, and tools.
7. Participate in strategy meetings to have a shared vision of the business objectives, proactively identifying opportunities related to design.
8. Collaborate with Product, Engineering and other teams to understand our customer needs and create innovative solutions.

The Ideal Candidate

1. Has 5+ years of experience in UX / UI Design.
2. Is an effective communicator and people leader.
3. Has solid, hands-on technical skills in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
4. Has experience working in Jira or other project management software.
5. Has a strong sense of initiative, ownership, and accountability.
6. Has a deep understanding of UX principles and user psychology to design intuitive and accessible interfaces (there is a UX researcher on a separate team).
7. Is skillful in layout, typography, colour theory, interactions, and brand consistency, bringing a refined aesthetic to designs.
8. Is comfortable providing explanations to any design decisions based on best practices, research, usability testing, and brand standards.
9. Is dedicated to learning and continuous self-improvement.
