Position Title: Project Coordinator, AI Supported Student Advising

Employment Type: Full Time

Full-time Equivalency (FTE): 1.0

Salary: $59,555 - $79,673 per annum

Classification: ADM-05

Provisional Statement: This is a provisional classification. Formal regular review classification procedures may be initiated at any time by the incumbent or supervisor after the incumbent has worked a minimum of six months in the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, plan and design a one-year pilot project exploring how generative AI can enhance student advising. Monitor project milestones and timelines, adjusting plans as needed to ensure timely delivery of outcomes.
  • Conduct environmental scans and benchmarking of AI tools used in higher education advising. Identify high-volume, low-complexity advising tasks suitable for AI support.
  • Develop a roadmap for implementation, including training plans and system requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including advisors, faculty, students, and administrative leaders. Engage with advisors across multiple units to map advising processes and identify opportunities for AI support.
  • Lead the development of shared tools, templates, and communication materials to promote adoption across units.
Note

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree with three years of experience in an advising, student support or service delivery role in a university setting (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaboratively delivering targeted outcomes on time and within budget.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and engaging diverse partners.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and process-mapping skills.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in student services.
  • Familiarity with data privacy, accessibility, and ethical considerations in AI deployment.
Assets
  • Hands-on experience designing, implementing, or evaluating generative AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI APIs) in a professional or academic setting.
