What Is the Opportunity?

The Project Manager, reporting to the Director of Business Solutions, is responsible for supporting the design, development and delivery of business and technical projects within the Business Program Management Office working with Aecon’s business and technical teams to meet organizational objectives.This position is offered as an 18 month contract.

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Partner with Executive Leaders and their direct reports as well as key business stakeholders to deliver agreed project outcomes.
  • Lead assigned projects to completion on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Provide business and technical teams with feedback, encouragement and advice.
  • Develop individual project plans complete with budgetary information and resource needs, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Refine project budget as needed to ensure timeliness and fiscal responsibility.
  • Track and manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Troubleshoot problems that come up during projects, maintain accurate defect and issue tracking logs.
  • Host project meetings, steering committee updates at a regular cadence for each project under your direction.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers as needed.
  • Communicate project objectives to all team members involved.
  • Communicate with our business stakeholders and IT department regarding resource allocation.
  • Report and escalate to management as needed.
  • Train business and resources on project delivery methods (Product Ownership, Scrums) as needed for project onboarding and execution.
  • Build strong relationships with internal customers, stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure delivery is smooth and customer centric.
  • Translate business objectives into streams of work, aligning technology and business strategy.
  • Drive and model a customer focused service culture.
  • Contribute to organizational change.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Devise course delivery and training schedules for a geographically dispersed user community.
  • Create Communication and Training plans with support of key project stakeholders for each project assigned.
  • Work with the business to identify appropriate resources for the development of work instructions, quick reference guides and other job aides to supplement end-user training.
  • Conduct training needs assessment and upfront gap analysis and evaluation.
  • Assist in the scheduling and coordination of multiple complex training operations.
  • Maintain relevant assessment documentation and records.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • 8+ years’ experience in a project supervisory capacity.
  • Ability to complete projects on time and within the stated budget.
  • Excellent communication, organization, time-management, and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of Agile, PMP, SAP and Business Warehouse (BW).
  • 3-4 years of Scrum Master experience and certification.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technology quickly and apply the knowledge to support projects with insight to potential risk.
  • Ability to quickly earn the trust of peers, project teams and key project stakeholders to mobilize and motivate teams.
  • Ability to set direction and approach, resolve conflict, deliver tough messages with grace to senior leadership / key project stakeholders.
  • Ability to problem solve and work effectively in a team.
