Due to our company growth and expanding footprint, we are looking to add to our team and hire an Apprentice Aircraft Painter to work on our aircraft and ground fleet.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Coulson Aviation is expanding and looking to add an Apprentice Aircraft Painter to its paint and finishing department.

Reporting to a Red Seal Paint Manager with an Automotive Refinishing Prep Technician ticket and Automotive Paint ticket, this is a great opportunity for a chosen candidate to earn their required working hours towards obtaining their Red Seal certification. This person will gain exposure to many different and unique projects ranging from large, fixed wing aircraft and helicopters, ground fleet, as well as newly manufactured parts and automotive projects.

This full-time position is based at Coulson Aircrane Ltd.’s airport facility in Port Alberni, BC.

Compensation for this position will fall between $22.00 - $30.00/hour, depending on experience and education.

Responsibilities:

• Reports to the Paint Manager to assess current needs of the day and determine which project(s) and location(s) will require attention
• Preparation, priming, and painting of aircraft components, parts, and panels
• Parts degreasing, sanding, and masking
• Mixing paint
• Equipment operation
• Spray gun operation
• Working with stencils, decorative items, CG images, etc.
• Works with scrapers, solvents, sandpaper, acids, and other refinishing products
• Painting of aircraft parts while adhering to procedure and specifications
• Use appropriate painting and polishing techniques and other related skills to complete assigned tasks

Requirements:

• 1 year of experience working in similar type of role or industry (paint or autobody shop would be preferred)
• Hardworking and passionate about your chosen career path
• Good communication skills, able to take direction well, work independently and with a team

Preferred Requirements:

• Previous experience working in the automotive or aviation industry would be considered an asset
• Current enrollment in a Painter and/or Decorator program, or completion of an Automotive Refinishing Program is highly preferred

This full-time position is based at Coulson Aircrane Ltd.’s airport facility in Port Alberni, BC.

In addition to an hourly rate of $22.00 - $30.00/hour, we offer employer paid benefits and a 5% matching pension plan.
