Our Chalk River location is looking for a Mechanical Engineer (New Grad) to support our Mechanical Equipment Development Branch. What will you be doing!
- Designing moderately complex mechanical equipment, tooling, and components to meet customer commitments as part of a team.
- Completing engineering calculations to support and verify detailed designs.
- Checking engineering drawings to ensure they accurately convey the design intent.
- Preparing engineering documents such as Design Requirements, Design Descriptions, Work Activity Plans, Test Plans, and Test Reports.
- Assisting with laboratory testing and commissioning of new equipment, including data recording, analysis, and reporting.
- Managing medium and large-sized projects.
- Performing other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Bachelor's (Honours) in Engineering or Science from a recognized university OR membership in a professional engineering or scientific organization authorized by statute.
- Registered or working towards registration in the PEO Engineering Internship Training program is an asset.
- Experience
- Generally, less than 2 years of experience.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and suppliers.
- Punctuality and strong work ethic.
- Good organization and record-keeping skills.
- Knowledge of basic machine design, strength of materials, and manufacturing techniques.
- Strong mechanical design aptitude.
- Knowledge of robotics, automation, and remote tooling is an asset.
- Experience with analytical modeling in solid mechanics.
- Practical knowledge of GD&T.
- Awareness of radiation protection, environmental, QA, and security programs is an asset.
- Knowledge of material science is desirable.
- Security Clearance Eligibility
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), requiring 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the US, or the UK. Security screening will be conducted in accordance with government policies.

This is a fully onsite role at CNL’s Chalk River Laboratory, with occasional remote work opportunities. The site offers beautiful natural surroundings and outdoor activities.
