Job summary
A road maintenance company in Ontario is seeking a Winter Casual Operator for highway maintenance. This role involves operating various heavy equipment and maintaining highways throughout the seasons. Candidates must hold a valid AZ or DZ driver's license and be able to perform physically demanding tasks. This is an on-call position requiring flexibility and responsiveness to weather conditions, with competitive hourly rates and additional premiums available.

- Base hourly rate: $25.00/hour
- Premiums: up to $5/hour for winter maintenance operations
- Must be located within 30 minutes of the shop due to the location of the work
- On-call including night shifts may be required as we respond to various weather patterns
- This is an on-call, weather-dependent position with no guaranteed hours in a week
- CLAC union position
- Operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment as required
- Maintain Ontario Provincial Highways year-round, including Labourer duties (pothole repair, guardrail repair, bridge and signage cleaning, hazard remediation, etc.)
- Work outside in all weather conditions
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, crouching, etc.
- Valid AZ or DZ driver’s license with air endorsement
- Provide a copy of a 3-year commercial driver’s abstract
- Previous experience operating a snowplow truck and/or wheel loader is a strong asset
