The City of Victoria is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Transportation Planner to shape the future of mobility in our community. In this role, our successful candidate will lead and develop transportation policies, processes, and programs that prioritize sustainable mobility, and strategically integrate these initiatives into land use planning, street renewal projects, curb management, and programming.
As our Transportation Planner, you will play a supporting role in evaluating and making recommendations on transportation-related aspects of development. Our ideal candidate will possess exceptional engagement skills and excel at collaborating with diverse stakeholders and fostering partnerships to drive impactful results. Expertise in parking policy and planning is a valuable asset.
This position also involves delegating tasks to junior staff and providing comprehensive oversight to ensure high-quality outcomes. POSITION FUNCTION
Direct and develop transportation planning and engineering programs, procedures, bylaws, and policies; support the transportation design process and land use development activities.
KEY DUTIES
INDEPENDENCE
Work is generated by development applications or enquiries and departmental objectives; special projects are assigned by supervisor. Work is reviewed through reports to supervisor. Issues such as policy changes are discussed with supervisor with recommendations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Effort: Normal.
Mental Effort: Short periods of intense concentration while preparing and reviewing reports and data. (often) Meet multiple deadlines. (often)
Visual/Auditory Effort: Focus on detailed drawings, a variety of source data and computer for short periods. (often)
Work Environment: Presence on construction sites. (rare).
KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
Formal Education, Training and Occupational Certification:
Experience:
5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER:
