Job summary
A governmental entity is seeking a skilled worker for roofing system installation in the Metro Vancouver area. Responsibilities include installing and repairing various roofing materials, reading blueprints, and supervising apprentices. Candidates should have 1-2 years of relevant experience and a willingness to work on-site, as remote work is not an option. This role requires the ability to manage materials and maintain safety protocols on the job site.
Qualifications
- No degree, certificate or diploma required.
- 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in roofing.
Responsibilities
- Install built-up roofing systems.
- Replace asphalt shingles and roofing tiles.
- Read blueprints to determine work requirements.
- Instruct apprentices and supervise workers.

Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
- Install built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel
- Install or replace asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes and masonry or baked clay roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings
- Install roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings
- Install single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials, such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
- Repair or replace shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings
- Repair or replace single-ply roofing systems
- Repair roofing systems
- Instruct apprentices
- Supervise other workers
- Apply waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level
- Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools
- Install sheet metal flashings
- Estimate costs and materials
- Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms
