• Mix plastersubstances in trough to preferred consistency
• Apply, stage andeasy coats of plaster the use of trowels, floats,brushes and spraying device
• Trowel or spraycoats of stucco over exteriors of homes to shapeweatherproof surfaces
• Finish corners andangles and create ornamental designs in end coat, ifrequired
• Cure freshlyplastered surfaces
• Mould and depletiondecorative plaster panels, cornices and trim
• Spray acousticsubstances or texture end over partitions and ceilings.
• Measure, reduce andmatch drywall sheets for set up on partitions andceilings
• Position and stablesheets to metallic or wood studs or joists

Requirements

• Generally a highschool diploma is required.
• Completion of athree- or four-year apprenticeship in plastering, drywall orturning.

• The plasterer tradecertification is required in Quebec and is available, but notrequired, in Ontario, Saskatchewan and BritishColumbia.

• Professionalcertification for lathes (furniture mills) is required inQuebec and is available, but not required, in all otherprovinces and the Yukon.
• Red SealCertification is also offered to qualified lathes (interiorsystems mechanics) after passing the intercity Red Sealexam.
