If you answered yes, our Chalk River location is looking for an Infrastructure Analyst to provides architecture, design, and operational maintenance services for CNL’s server, storage, and cloud computing requirements. What will you be doing!

• Designing the overall architecture and provides ongoing support for CNL’s on-premise server infrastructure and cloud-based computing infrastructure, email and messaging tools, deploying and providing operational support for application and database servers, and implementing backup and recovery technologies and procedures, while supporting server virtualization technologies and processes.
• Gathering and documenting user requirements on single business processes and translates those needs into functional designs as part of a project team. Acts as a Technical Lead on projects of medium complexity (e.g. researches and implements new infrastructure technologies).
• Creatively defining and designing IT infrastructure solutions to address technical and business needs. Develops a high degree of expertise with one or more critical IT Infrastructure component.
• Expanding on existing solution templates or develop new paradigms and innovative solutions. Designs and/or specifies generalized solutions, at the level of architectural redesign to existing systems and new technologies (e.g. adoption of new technologies such as virtualization). Develops and acts on technology implementation plans aligned to defined strategies.
• Analyzing and designing technical computing process and systems including and understanding of software build processes and compiler variations.
• Specifying next generation server, storage, cloud, and/or technical computing hardware and software components, including Operating System, monitoring and management tools, etc.
• Provisioning server hardware selection and testing. Implements and integrates commercial software purchases in support of the server, storage and technical computing infrastructure.
• Defining specification of server, storage, and technical computing hardware and associated software.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

• Education
  • Graduation from a recognized educational institution in computer science, computer technician, data networking. OR
  • Graduation from an equivalent formal educational program and relevant IT experience.
• Experience
  • Five (5) of more years of prior experience in an IT Infrastructure Analyst or similar role to gain design-related expertise with IT Infrastructure technologies.
  • Architecture-specific certifications are desirable, such as Microsoft MCSE, Red Hat RHCE, SNIA SNCP, etc.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Understanding of CNL-specific practices and processes.
  • Advanced skills in system administration and technology-specific toolsets.
  • Advanced technology troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to develop standards and protocols.
  • Advanced critical thinking and analysis skills, especially with respect to IT Infrastructure technologies.
  • Ability to accurately estimate project-related costs, effort and schedule.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills required to effectively present and communicate ideas, document solutions and develop strategies and plans.
  • Project management tools including planning software (e.g. MS Project, SharePoint).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based Infrastructure-as-a-Service (Iaas) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) such as Microsoft M365, Amazon, and Oracle.
  • Ability to identify and documents potential problems and their solutions during installation phase
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Level 2 Secret which has a minimum requirement of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom . CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Location :

CNL works with employees across our Canadian locations to enable remote work when possible.This role requires regular work atCNL’s Chalk River Laboratorysite while also permitting the employee to spend the majority of their time working remotely, should they so desire. CNL employees who choose to work remotely the majority of the time are provided with the equipment required to be successful at their remote workplace (laptop, chair, monitor, etc.); however, they are not provided a dedicated onsite office.CNL’s Chalk River laboratory is nestled in the Ottawa Valley.
