In this role, you will:

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain and Repair: Manage the maintenance logbook, record completed jobs and prioritize tasks. Perform a variety of minor maintenance tasks, which may include electrical, HVAC, plumbing, septic, and/or carpentry work (depending on personal expertise and certification). Activate, monitor, and report on work completed by third party-vendors. Operate and maintain equipment such as bobcats and snow blowers. Provide professional and friendly service to residents and respond to their inquiries. Complete small jobs on behalf of residents based on established processes (i.e. boosting vehicles).
  2. Supports an Effective Team: Collaborates to fulfill the agreed objectives, needs and expectations. Fosters teamwork through a professional exchange of experiences and expertise that can be transferred to other areas of work. Provides back-up to colleagues as required. Mentors colleagues on sourcing processes and systems for back up purposes. Participates in disaster planning, preparation and response, as required.
Position Requirements

English Fluency Level required for position: Intermediate

What we are looking for:

  1. Minimum of a one (1) year post-secondary certification in a related field along with 3 years of job-related hands-on experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Certification and working knowledge of occupational health and safety standards, and willingness to participate and upgrade training certifications including general safety and relevant courses.
  3. Certification in one or more of the following would be an asset: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, septic, and/or carpentry.
  4. In-depth knowledge of maintenance and repairs, janitorial services and procedures, grounds maintenance.
  5. Experience working with third party vendors (i.e. septic tank desludging, water tank, fuel tank replenishment, etc.).
  6. Knowledge of contracting and procurement of facility-related services.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to deal with personnel, residents and the public.
  8. Demonstrate team leadership skills by effectively communicating expectations, inspiring team members and fostering collaboration to achieve shared goals.
  9. Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft suite of tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, Teams).
  10. Comfortable making timely, well-considered decisions that align with organizational values and goals.
  11. Ability to work independently in a result oriented multi-tasking environment and manage conflicting priorities.
  12. Must have and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
  13. Valid First Aid Certification, or willingness to take training.
  14. Fluency in English is required, French is an asset.
Working Conditions:

May be required to work non-traditional hours, be on-call, carry a cell phone, and respond to emergency/disaster related requests. Work will predominately be performed on-site, with some work to be completed at home or in an office environment, based on operational needs. Frequent travel between interim housing sites. Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting throughout shift. Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps. Must be able to carry and lift loads of up to 22kg (50lbs) on a regular basis.
