Job description

Key Responsibilities

This is a permanent, full-time position with the Infrastructure Services Department.

Reporting to the Water Treatment Plant Foreman, this position is responsible for:

  • Ensuring the safe distribution, treatment, disinfection, and transmission of potable water to all City of Cold Lake residents and customers.
  • Following environmental standards, and federal and provincial regulatory bodies.
  • Ensuring the safe operation of the City’s water and sewage systems.
  • Oversee safe disinfection of potable water and uninterrupted transmission of water to customers.
  • Monitoring bacteriological levels.
  • Reporting data to Alberta Environment for analysis.
  • Obtaining field samples, lab testing, organizing data, and record management.
  • Maintenance and repair of the water and wastewater systems, pump houses, lift stations, and treatment facility.
Requirements
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in utilities, water treatment or a related field;
  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • A current Class 3 Driver’s license with Q endorsement;
  • Alberta Environment Certification – Level II Water Treatment and Water Distribution, Level I Waste Water Treatment, and Level II Waste Water Collection certificates are required with a preference given to those with Level II certification for all;
  • Standard First Aid, CPR, Confined Space Entry, H2S, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Heavy Equipment Operator certifications are preferred;
  • Strong time management, computer, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
