As a key member of the Canadian Team, the Warehouse Team Leader will be critical to the strategic and operational development of our Warehouse Operation during the start-up and ramp-up of Hilton Foods Canada. This role is critical in building a high-performing, engaged, and inclusive workforce that supports the company’s growth and operational excellence. This role is at the heart of driving our business capability and building a fantastic environment for all our colleagues. This is a role in which you can influence, bring new ideas and develop the Hilton Foods Canada operation in our organisation. You will bring a passion for continually improving operational performance and people capability on our brand-new site in Canada.

Purpose of role

The purpose of the Warehouse Team Leader is to provide support to the Warehouse Team Manager / Supervisor and to deputise in their absence. The role itself is to ensure the safe, effective and productive operation of all aspects of the logistics department under the direction of the Warehouse Team Manager & Warehouse Supervisors. To support, lead & train the logistics warehouse team, ensuring that all targets are met, and all procedures are followed.

Key Accountabilities
  • To understand and lead the day-to-day resources of the shift to include awareness of goods coming in; awareness of goods going out; any internal requirements.
  • Retain supervisory awareness at all times particularly if involved in other tasks i.e. Whilst working or supporting with loading/unloading etc.
  • Ensure that company standards for hygiene and housekeeping are met with all staff using the correct P.P.E.
  • Manage the training and development of operatives to ensure legal compliance and operational continuity.
  • Deputize for the Warehouse Supervisors during periods of absence & annual leave.
  • Control of staff to effectively manage their breaks to ensure that time is not wasted and operational cover is maintained at all times.
  • Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching in a positive manner.
  • Provide Supervisory support in Additional units or out stores during peak periods.

Travel

This role will require travel to Huntingdon UK at the beginning of employment, anticipated to be for 2/3 weeks.
