Position Overview

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Shift Crew Lead will be responsible for team coordination and control of warehouse operator personnel to provide effective, efficient and economical support. The Lead ensures all customer issues are handled effectively and in a timely manner to meet and exceed performance‑metric requirements. They work directly with others to identify and demonstrate ways to improve team performance, practice lean warehousing to eliminate waste, and attain and sustain performance metrics and standards for inventory accuracy, order fulfillment and pack‑up kit readiness.

What You Will Do
  • Plan the coordination and organization of the daily activities of the shift crew
  • Train and orient new staff on material handling equipment, health & safety, and standard plant procedures
  • Coordinate and control shift‑crew activities, including receipt, physical security, shipping and receiving, kitting, issue, and local delivery of material
  • Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or using material‑handling equipment
  • Complete accurate stock‑taking cycle counts as per schedules
  • Achieve performance targets (metrics) during the shift
  • Monitor stock levels to prevent stock‑outs/overages
  • Control and process documentation for repair or calibration of defective items
  • Keep company‑owned and customer‑supplied assets in good working order and condition. Ensure inventory data accuracy and integrity through timely updating of the functional inventory computer system
  • Act as a focal point for materiel matters with 8 Wing personnel
  • Facilitate the resolution of shift‑crew administrative matters
  • Ensure appropriate training is provided and procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure manpower is equitably distributed to meet workload demands
  • Ensure that company‑operated warehouses are properly maintained with respect to cleanliness, packaging, location, identification, labeling, segregation, security and safe working conditions, and coordinate shift‑crew lean warehouse practices
  • Facilitate and monitor personnel development and administration within the shift crew
  • Serve as shift point‑of‑contact liaison and respond to the client’s authorised representative
  • Recommend disciplinary action where required, participate as a member of management on labour committees, investigate workplace incidents/events
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring
  • Grade‑twelve diploma (undergraduate degree preferred) and at least ten years of experience, with 3–5 years supervisory experience in aerospace logistics and supply management, or a suitable combination of education, training, civil/military experience and record of achievement
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, picking, security, inventory control, quality control, safety and other general supply‑chain service requirements
  • Ability to interface with suppliers and customer management
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues in a time frame that meets or exceeds expectations
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and computer skills; a strong logistical and customer‑service background
  • Familiarity with MS Office products (Excel, Outlook) and computerized warehouse/inventory management systems
  • Ability to coordinate and support multiple tasks consistently while providing the highest level of customer service
  • Ability to organise, schedule and plan daily activities
  • Physical strength to lift and move materials up to 22 kg
  • Ability to read and interpret statistical and performance‑metric data for effective and efficient analysis of operations
  • Flexibility with work hours and willingness to work overtime and rotating shifts when needed
  • Eligibility to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances
