Job Description

The VP Operations is a member of the Executive Team and responsible for the direction, strategy, planning, and execution of the company’s manufacturing operations. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on role for a leader who thrives in a scaling environment. You will lead a team of production staff with a mandate to grow, overseeing all operational activities including upstream manufacturing, packaging, facilities and maintenance, production planning, and supply chain management.

We are looking for a "builder" with high rigor and grit—someone capable of high‑level strategic planning who is equally willing to be on the floor to drive execution.

Job Responsibilities
  • Drive Commercial Scale-Up: Drive all GMP and commercial manufacturing activities during this critical scaling phase.
  • Strategic Execution: In cooperation with the other Executive Team members, you develop, plan, and execute the strategy for establishing and continuously improving film manufacturing capability at Nualtis.
  • Equipment & Facility: Work directly and full circle with equipment builders on optimizing and scaling the production facility.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that operational activities are performed in compliance with pertinent rules and regulations (Health Canada/FDA/EMA).
  • Team Leadership and Development: Manage and grow the team hands‑on, day‑to‑day and following the company vision.
  • QMS Integration: In cooperation with Regulatory Affairs and Quality Operations, ensure continuous improvement of the Quality Management System for the Company.
  • R&D Collaboration: Cooperate with the R&D department on scale‑up and process development activities relating to development projects.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Explore contract manufacturing opportunities and established relationships with sub‑contract manufacturers.
  • Standards & Cost: Ensure that, as the company grows, manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Negotiation: Play an active role in senior‑level negotiations with client companies and manufacturing partners.
  • Budgeting: Develop and manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on product costs and margins.
  • Supply Chain: Direct all production control, production process development, material procurement, and shipping/receiving activities.
  • Serialization: Implements serialization procedures and policy as required.
Job Requirements
  • Education: B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Business discipline. A background demonstrating high academic rigor (e.g., top‑tier university) is highly valued.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in GMP and commercial manufacturing, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, fab management, and/or operations of specialty pharma manufacturing. This has come on top of a foundation of other work or academic experience, which will have given you a different leverage for the position.
  • Profile: We are seeking a candidate with high intellect, grit, and an ownership mindset. Experience in Management Consulting prior to operational roles is a strong plus.
  • Supply Chain: Experience in materials management, from planning through purchasing, and negotiation and administration of procurement agreements.
  • Network: Established relationships with the full range of worldwide sub‑contract manufacturers and familiarity with their capabilities, pricing strategies, and negotiation tactics.
  • Management: Sound administrative skills and well‑developed management skills, with the ability to lead a tight‑knit team on‑site.
