Job description

We are looking for a confident and compassionate treatment room nurse with some experience in general practice to join our busy GP practice. The role involves delivering high-quality nursing care in the treatment room, supporting GPs and healthcare professionals in managing patient care efficiently. There will be the possibility to train and grow to take on a fuller general practice nursing role over time. The position could suit a newly qualified nurse, or a nurse looking to transition into general practice from another setting.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver a wide range of clinical procedures in the treatment room including wound assessment and management, dressing application and removal, injections (e.g., flu, travel vaccines), venipuncture, ECGs, and basic health screenings.

Assist GPs and other healthcare professionals with minor surgical procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout.

Administer vaccinations and immunizations following national protocols and practice policies, including childhood and adult programs.

Monitor and maintain stocks of clinical supplies, ensuring proper storage and expiry checks.

Maintain and audit infection control standards to comply with local and national guidelines, promoting safety.

Manage patient appointments for treatment room clinics, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.

Provide health education and advice, promoting self-care and lifestyle changes where appropriate.

Accurately document patient interactions, treatments, and observations per NHS standards, ensuring confidentiality and data protection.

Identify patients needing follow-up or referral and liaise with the wider practice team to coordinate care.

Participate in clinical and team meetings, contributing to professional development and service improvements.

Support practice-wide initiatives such as audits, vaccination campaigns, and quality improvement projects as directed by the practice manager or clinical lead.
