Trailer Technician – Licensed or Apprentice

Location: 9559 40 Street SE Calgary, Alberta T2C 2P4 – Canada
Reports to: Service Manager/Lead Hand
Job Status: Full Time - Permanent
Shifts Available: Night Shift – 2:00pm – 12:00am

As a Trailer Technician Licensed/ Apprentice at our Calgary branch, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and inspection tasks on trailers to ensure they are safe, efficient, and roadworthy. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are key to ensuring that trailers meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical repairs, a strong understanding of trailer systems, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of trailers to identify any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubricating moving parts, replacing worn-out components, and adjusting brakes and suspension systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot trailer issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Repair or replace damaged or faulty trailer parts, including electrical systems, tires, brakes, lights, couplers, and axles.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and bodywork repairs as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards throughout all repair and maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including parts used and labor hours.
Qualifications
  • Journeyman Transport Trailer Technician
  • CVIP License (Preferred)
  • Body Repair Experience (Preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of ABS diagnostic software
  • Good written and oral communication
  • Problem Solving and decision-making skills
  • Works well with others; team players
  • Ability to lift up to 85 lbs.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, kneel, sit, bend down and reach up
  • Frequently required to use hands to feel, handle or reach for tools
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Valid driver License
