Technical Writer

Reporting to the Leader, Business and Information Security Office (BISO) and IT Compliance Management, the Technical Writer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and Agile squads to produce documentation supporting assigned projects. Since compliance is within our mandate, the Technical Writer will also ensure content supports our adherence to industry standards. They will craft documentation that is engaging, consistent, user-friendly, accurate, and aligned with our documentation standards.

You'll be responsible for:
  1. Building rapport with subject matter experts across teams to generate clear and accurate content that is current, effective, and user-centric.
  2. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement by refining processes and documentation practices.
  3. Adopting and practicing Agile principles and values followed by Interac.
  4. Creating, developing, and maintaining technical documentation such as procedures, policies, processes, standards, and build/playbooks.
  5. Analyzing processes to document workflows.
  6. Managing workload and competing priorities to achieve successful outcomes.
  7. Guiding the creation of structured repositories for documentation and references.
  8. Reviewing and updating the documentation knowledge base periodically.
  9. Staying updated with industry trends and best practices in content writing and sharing insights with the team.
  10. Developing resources to enable employees to self-manage knowledge effectively.
You bring:
  1. 5+ years of professional technical writing, editorial, or copywriting experience.
  2. A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Technical Communication, English, or related discipline.
  3. Experience engaging with technical subject matter experts.
  4. Initiative and confidence to navigate obstacles proactively.
  5. General knowledge of technical disciplines like coding, software design, servers, etc.
  6. Familiarity with ITSM practices such as DevOps, DevSecOps, and ITIL.
  7. Ability to create clear, accessible, and technically accurate writing.
  8. Experience managing end-to-end documentation processes.
  9. Understanding of knowledge management practices.
  10. Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  11. Ability to thrive in PCI and ISO27001 environments.
  12. Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  13. A passion for technical information and a focus on end goals.
  14. Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and templates.
  15. Experience with knowledge management tools like Confluence, Lucidchart, MS Teams, SharePoint, and ServiceNow Knowledge Base is an asset.
  16. Eligibility to work in Canada for Interac Corp.
