Technical Project Manager (Firmware & Systems Engineer)

Full-Time Position

Location: Hybrid (at least 3 days per week in MWHQ, Vancouver, BC)

Base Salary: $125,000 - $135000

About the Role

As a Technical Project Manager with a Firmware and Systems Engineering focus, you will own both the technical direction and execution of complex hardware programs. This role blends hands‑on engineering leadership with structured project delivery. You will work closely with clients, internal engineering teams, and project managers to translate product requirements into robust, buildable systems and guide them from concept through delivery.

This role is ideal for a senior firmware or systems engineer who enjoys technical ownership, cross‑functional leadership, and client‑facing work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with clients to understand product goals and define end‑to‑end technical solutions
  • Translate system requirements into clear technical plans, milestones, and work packages
  • Lead firmware and system architecture decisions across embedded hardware platforms
  • Coordinate execution across electrical, firmware, mechanical, and software disciplines
  • Own technical risk management, system trade‑offs, and delivery readiness
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking alongside project managers
  • Lead system bring‑up, debugging, and validation using lab tools and structured testing
  • Facilitate regular client check‑ins and manage technical expectations
  • Identify opportunities for IP reuse, platform improvements, and process refinement
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to MistyWest’s internal technical leadership
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years delivering embedded or electro‑mechanical products with firmware and hardware integration
  • Strong hands‑on experience with embedded systems including MCU selection, schematics review, PCB review, sensor integration, power management, and firmware development in C or C++
  • Experience with system bring‑up, hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, debugging, and reliability validation
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, track, and deliver technical work using project management practices
  • Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and working directly with clients
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, curiosity, and a continuous learning mindset
