Job Description

WSP is seeking a dynamic and growth-minded Mechanical Engineering Team Lead/Manager to lead the expansion of our Mechanical team in Interior BC. Based in Kelowna or Kamloops, you will play a pivotal role in building a high-performing mechanical team and expanding our client base across BC, the Yukon, and western Canada.

This is more than a technical leadership role — we’re looking for someone with the vision and drive to build a team, grow market share, and strengthen WSP’s presence in the region. You’ll be instrumental in shaping our local operations while contributing to major projects across Western Canada.

What you can expect to do here
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a growing team of mechanical engineers and designers in Interior BC.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with WSP’s values.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on projects to ensure quality and consistency across the team.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow WSP’s client base in key sectors including healthcare, education, transportation, science & technology, and light industrial.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building lasting relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Lead or support the preparation of proposals, presentations, and other business development initiatives.
  • Oversee mechanical system design (HVAC, plumbing & drainage, fire protection) for building projects from concept to completion.
  • Ensure all work complies with National, Provincial, and Municipal codes and meets project specifications.
  • Coordinate preparation of engineering documents, including technical reports, drawings, cost estimates, and specifications.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and design approaches to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions.
What you’ll bring to WSP
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Registered P.Eng. in British Columbia (required).
  • 10+ years of experience in consulting mechanical engineering, with a strong track record in team leadership and client relationship management.
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to develop new client relationships and drive business growth.
  • Experience with major projects in the healthcare or institutional sectors is preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit MEP proficiency is highly desirable.
  • Experience with projects in the Okanagan and familiarity with the BC Interior market is an asset.
  • PSPC Reliability Clearance is an asset.
  • PMP designation or willingness to obtain it is an asset.
  • LEED accreditation and/or experience in sustainable design is an asset.

Salary range (in British Columbia): $96,200 to 132,200

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
