Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our Team Lead, Health & Safety, you will be responsible for providing health and safety leadership to the HSE Advisor Team and supporting the field operations teams. This support will aid in the development of a front‑line‑based safety program. This individual will coach and mentor the HSE Team and Operations leadership staff on the implementation and responsibilities of the SECURE HSEMS.

This role can be based out of Edmonton, Alberta.

The Team

You’ll be part of an experienced, tight‑knit safety and operations team that values clear communication, shared accountability, and practical in‑the‑field leadership. The group is collaborative, solutions‑oriented, and committed to continuous improvement in creating safe, consistent work practices across all Metals operations.

Work Environment

In SECURE’s Metals business, you’ll support a dynamic operational environment focused on metal recycling, material recovery, and safe facility execution. This environment requires a strong field presence and a commitment to maintaining safe, efficient processes aligned with SECURE’s high standards for environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance.

A Day in The Life
  • Providing day to day leadership to the Health & Safety Team to ensure a consistent approach to all safety matters throughout SECURE
  • Providing support to the field, specifically to the safe execution of work activities
  • Providing support to the field to ensure regulatory compliance is met
  • Maintaining a high level of in‑person field support (50% of time at a minimum)
  • Supporting core systems including ITrak, ISN, hazard assessment, job hazard assessment, safe operating procedures, emergency response plan, facility inspections/communication, safety program and safety audits
  • Developing and maintaining components of the safety program as requested
  • Ensuring communication and consistency is maintained through active engagement in safety meetings, area calls, and general safety communications
  • Continually progress personal development
  • Providing additional support as required
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • A minimum of 6 years’ direct experience in industry‑related operations
  • A High School Diploma
  • OHS Certificate, CRSP or NCSO designation
  • Working knowledge of safety programs and safe work practices
  • Practical knowledge and experience in training and coaching staff
  • A broad understanding of the safety regulatory process and principlesAbility to multitask, prioritize and work well under pressure
  • Strong ability to build working relationships and contacts within the organization as well as with external regulators, vendors, and contractors
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
