Position: NEUR 1P01 - Planning for Success in the Neurosciences - Fall
Compensation
  • Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to qualifications:
  • Undergraduate rate: $20.81/hour (for those without a 4-year honours or 3-year pass degree) (Effective January 1, 2023)
  • Graduate rate: $32.74/hour (for those with a 4-year honours or 3-year pass degree) (Effective January 1, 2023)
  • Additional duties are compensated at the appropriate TA rate.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct scheduled contact time with students and perform non-classroom duties such as preparing seminar materials, grading, student consultation, exam proctoring, attending lectures, and other course administration as required, in accordance with CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement.
  • Attend lectures, seminars, labs, or tutorials weekly.
  • Participate in TA meetings as scheduled.
  • Grade assignments, tests, and exams promptly, providing constructive feedback.
  • Hold office hours and respond to student emails outside scheduled contact times.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist students with course material difficulties.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the instructor.
Qualifications
  1. Honours Neuroscience BSc with an average of at least 80.
  2. Completion or enrollment in PSYC 5Y51/52, PSYC 7Y51/52/53, or BIOL 5P87.
  3. Ability to provide constructive feedback to students.
  4. Thorough understanding of all course aspects.
  5. Strong writing and editing skills.
  6. Supportive interpersonal skills and ability to lead group discussions.
  7. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage data.
  8. Effective time management skills to cover all course material within available seminar/lab/tutorial times.
