Role Description

We are hiring a Survey Crew Chief to support ongoing projects in northern Saskatchewan. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for managing and performing field survey work while coordinating closely with Project Managers, clients, and field teams. KPCL uses industry-leading technology, including Trimble RTK GPS and Total Stations.

Qualifications
  • Experience as a Survey Crew Chief or similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of Trimble GPS and Total Station equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of Trimble Business Center and ability to work independently to develop construction models for implementation in the field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot survey equipment and machine control issues
  • Ability to work effectively in outdoor construction environments and lead a team

    Responsibilities
    • Perform and manage field survey work with Surveyors and Survey Assistants
    • Coordinate survey activities with Project Managers, including schedules, priorities, budgets, and survey methods
    • Train and mentor new hire Surveyors and Survey Assistants
    • Liaise with client field representatives and act as a KPCL company representative
    • Prepare and communicate field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data
    • Complete survey work using Trimble GPS and Total Station equipment
    • Interpret construction drawings and implement designs in the field
    • Review design and as-built survey data for submissions
    • Track construction progress and prepare monthly quantity reports for payment
    • Set up and manage electronic design models for GPS-enabled construction equipment (Caterpillar Accugrade / Trimble Grade Control)
    • Monitor and report on daily project progress, schedules, delays, and damages
    • Support continuous improvement of field processes and use of new technology
    • Promote and actively participate in KPCL’s Safety Program
    • Communicate clearly with crews, foremen, and superintendents
    • Adapt to changing priorities and resolve field issues efficiently
    • Willingness to travel between jobsites and work overtime as required
